After Backlash, OPM Pastor Cancels Wedding Plans for His Autistic Foster Children
Apostle Chibuzor Gift Chinyere of Omega Power Ministries has announced he will no longer arrange marriages for his autistic foster children. His second attempt to wed his non-verbal son drew public outrage over consent and potential abuse. He had earlier sought an able-bodied wife for his foster son, Aboy Chibuzor, offering monetary and material benefits. Critics argued Aboy cannot give informed consent, so that wedding was halted. A similar plan for his 21-year-old daughter, Chiemeka, sparked fresh calls for intervention. On April 21, the pastor said all future marriage plans for his autistic children are "suspended permanently." He pledged to employ specialist doctors to provide professional care for them.
