PRG Refutes Dalung’s Insecurity Claims, Affirms Plateau Is Safe and Welcoming
The Plateau Regeneration Group has dismissed former Sports Minister Solomon Dalung’s comments alleging that state highways are unsafe and displaced communities attack vehicles. It described the claims as misleading and likely to create unnecessary fear among residents, investors and visitors. The group outlined a multi-layered security strategy under Governor Caleb Mutfwang’s administration. This includes joint operations with the Nigerian Army, Police and other agencies, strengthened community policing with traditional rulers and youth leaders, and logistical support such as vehicles and surveillance equipment. PRG also highlighted peacebuilding initiatives—inter-communal dialogues, conflict-resolution platforms and rehabilitation support for displaced persons—that address the root causes of insecurity. It urged public figures to base their remarks on facts to avoid stigmatizing vulnerable communities and undermining ongoing efforts to sustain peace in Plateau State.
