Former Super Eagles goalkeeper Carl Ikeme says missing the 2018 FIFA World Cup remains his biggest regret in football. Ikeme was diagnosed with acute leukaemia during Wolverhampton Wanderers’ pre-season in July 2017. He underwent treatment and retired in 2018 after being declared in complete remission. He said he wishes he had represented Nigeria more often and played at major tournaments, especially the World Cup.
