Group Demands Probe Into Alleged Cash-for-Promotion and FCT Recruitment Irregularities

The Transparency and Accountability Network has called for an independent investigation into alleged irregularities in promotion and recruitment at the FCT Civil Service Commission. The group said the allegations include a possible cash-for-promotion culture and concerns over the engagement of three retired directors. It stressed that the claims are unproven and that everyone involved should be given fair hearing during any investigation. The group also questioned a recent recruitment exercise, alleging that vacancies were advertised without a publicly known interview or transparent selection process. It said some applicants may have resumed work already, raising concerns among contract medical workers who expected a fair chance at permanent appointments. It urged the commission and FCT authorities to disclose the number of vacancies, selection criteria, interview arrangements and whether appointment letters have been issued. The group said a transparent, merit-based process is necessary to protect workers' morale and public confidence.
