Sowore Accuses Otti of Mediocre Leadership Despite ₦2trillion Allocations

Sowore Accuses Otti of Mediocre Leadership Despite ₦2trillion Allocations

Nigerian activist and politician Omoyele Sowore has intensified his criticism of Abia State Governor Alex Otti. He described the governor’s performance as “mediocre” despite a significant rise in federal allocations. In a social media video, Sowore said Otti’s efforts “would not be accepted of a councillor in Ghana.” He noted that Abia State has received over ₦2trillion from FAAC, a 200% increase, yet lacks visible transformative development. Sowore also accused the governor of delegating his public defence to influencers and media figures for “image laundering.” He argued that paying salaries and pensions is a statutory duty, not an achievement. As of filing this report, Governor Otti has not issued a direct response to these allegations.

It's odd to see almost ₦2trillion in allocations still described as underwhelming performance without concrete project updates.

While I share concerns about progress, branding Otti's record as outright mediocre might overlook systemic challenges beyond state control.

We should focus on tracking specific infrastructure deliverables and budget utilization reports to gauge if the allocations are translating into tangible benefits.
