Sadio Mané Launches $20m Agro-Industrial Park to Create 1,000 Jobs in Senegal
Former Senegal captain Sadio Mané has launched construction of the SM10 Agro project, a $20 million agro-industrial park in his hometown of Bambali. The 500-hectare development is expected to create more than 1,000 direct jobs when it begins operations. Funded entirely by Mané, the project will include orchards, four processing units, a training centre and a research facility. It is designed to process up to 8,500 tonnes of farm produce each year and support farmers with better processing and market access. Mango processing will be the park’s main focus. The facility plans to produce mango purée, dried mango and mango butter for local and export markets, while guava will also be processed. Mané said the investment is aimed at keeping more value from locally grown produce within the community. It follows his earlier investments in social facilities in Bambali, including a school, hospital and bakery.
