Fashion Designer Arrested for Faking Bandit Attack Videos on TikTok

A 25-year-old fashion designer in Ogun State has been arrested after admitting he staged fake bandit attack clips on TikTok. He opened the account in January 2026 to market his clothing line. After spotting a trending “bandit” audio, he filmed scenes in a bush behind his shop with help from friends. He later involved a local Fulani herder in another video to boost views. The first clip prompted panic online, but he kept posting despite telling some followers it was only for content. The Ogun State Police confirmed the arrest on May 23. They say the false videos were capable of causing fear and unrest in the community.
