Ronaldo Meets New Al Nassr Coach Postecoglou Ahead of New Season — 1 of 2
1 / 2

Cristiano Ronaldo has returned to Al Nassr’s pre-season camp and met new head coach Ange Postecoglou, although he is yet to resume full training after an extended break following Portugal’s Round-of-16 exit at the 2026 World Cup. The 41-year-old watched the team train and attended their 2-0 friendly defeat to Almeria. He was absent for the earlier closed-door 2-1 loss to Benfica B in Lisbon. Postecoglou joins the Saudi Pro League champions on a two-year deal after Jorge Jesus left to take charge of Portugal. The Australian coach will work with Ronaldo as Al Nassr prepare to defend the league title they won in the 2025/26 season.

It is notable that he returned to camp to meet the new coach and watch training, even before resuming fully.

Meeting the coach is encouraging, but it is too early to read much into it until Ronaldo is back in full training.

Al Nassr should ease him back carefully after the World Cup, then use the remaining pre-season sessions to build understanding with Postecoglou.
