Korean-Nigerian Mother Alleges Rough Handling of Newborn During NIN Registration
A Korean woman living in Nigeria with her Nigerian husband has described a frustrating experience while trying to register her newborn for passport processing. She alleged that an official handled the baby’s fingers roughly while attempting to capture fingerprints. She said the incident made her feel like leaving Nigeria for the first time. According to her, the family visited the NIN office three times because of repeated problems. She said the staff member handling their case fell ill and the required information was stored on his phone. On their final visit, the baby’s photograph was taken in a crowded office where some people were coughing.
