Anambra Govt Approves Over ₦1bn in Projects, Unveils Mass Housing Policy to Lower Rent
The Anambra State Executive Council has approved over ₦1 billion in contracts for key development projects. These include an ₦801 million floodwater diversion channel at Ezioko, Orumba North; ₦280 million for new medical equipment at General Hospital Oroma Etiti; and ₦92 million for external works and landscaping at Nwafor Orizu College of Education, Nsugbe. The Commissioner for Information said the government will introduce legislation to license scrap dealers, boost monitoring and curb vandalism of public assets. The council also agreed to develop a comprehensive mass housing policy to tackle rising rents through stronger public–private partnerships, and will require all bidders for state projects to show proof of tax compliance.
