Ajibade: Super Falcons Must Improve After WAFCON and World Cup Qualification Setbacks

Super Falcons captain Rasheedat Ajibade says Nigeria must raise its standards after a disappointing 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations campaign. The 10-time African champions fell 1-0 to Cameroon in the quarter-finals and later lost 2-1 to South Africa, ending their hopes of reaching the inter-confederation playoffs for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup. Ajibade said the growth of women’s football across Africa means Nigeria can no longer rely on past dominance. She urged the team to prepare better, improve individually and collectively, and approach future tournaments with greater urgency.
