Sowore Again Refuses to Enter Defence in Cyberbullying Trial, Court Sets June 4 for Ruling
Politician and publisher Omoyele Sowore failed to enter a defence in his Federal High Court cyberbullying trial in Abuja. He is accused of calling President Tinubu “a criminal” on social media. On May 8, Justice Mohammed Umar dismissed Sowore’s no-case submission and held that a prima facie case had been made. He then ordered Sowore to present his defence or inform the court if he had none. Sowore’s team, led by Marshall Abubakar, applied for the judge’s recusal and filed letters with the Chief Judge. The prosecution objected, and Justice Umar directed both sides to file responses. The case is adjourned to June 4 pending the Chief Judge’s decision.
