Ogun AG Clears Philanthropist and Husband of Any Role in Woman’s Death
The Ogun State Attorney-General has dropped all charges against Chief Dorcas Adeyinka and her husband, Mr Suraju Ashimiyu, ending the criminal case over the death of Ms Folunsho Olayinka. A review of police investigations, witness statements and an autopsy report found that the deceased succumbed to severe malnutrition and respiratory failure from pulmonary tuberculosis. There was no evidence of poisoning or conspiracy to accelerate her death. The philanthropist, who runs a UK-based humanitarian foundation, had only provided financial support to Ms Olayinka’s family. Her husband had arranged medical care for his late wife. Their legal team described the decision as a complete vindication and warned against defamatory claims.
