Minister Gaidam Hails Transparent Nationwide Police Recruitment as a Call to National Service

Minister Gaidam Hails Transparent Nationwide Police Recruitment as a Call to National Service

Minister of Police Affairs Ibrahim Gaidam has praised the ongoing nationwide recruitment exercise for its orderly and transparent conduct. He described the screening as more than a routine process, calling it a vital step to rebuild public trust and strengthen the operational capacity of the Nigeria Police Force. The Minister urged all applicants to remain disciplined, law-abiding, and patient throughout the exercise. He stressed that integrity and respect for due process are as important as physical and academic qualifications for those who will wear the uniform. He also thanked the administration for approving 50,000 new police recruits and highlighted reforms aimed at creating a more professional, accountable, and citizen-centered police service. Gaidam appealed to traditional leaders, community members, and institutions to support the screening and encourage eligible youths to participate with sincerity and patriotism.

Oh really, calling it national service already? Let's wait for published steps on fair screening and oversight before we cheer transparency.

They claim transparent so no be only talk; we need proof this recruitment truly avoids favoritism and nepotism.

I'm not convinced rebuilding trust depends on a single recruitment exercise; systemic reforms and community engagement matter more.

To sustain transparency, regular public updates and third-party monitoring teams should be established throughout the recruitment process.
