Tinubu and Ribadu Broker Historic Peace Deal in Warri to Avert Ethnic Conflict
The Community Safety Vanguard has praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his timely intervention that prevented an ethnic crisis in the Niger Delta over the INEC ward delineation exercise in Warri. It also commended National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu for his pragmatic leadership in negotiating a power-sharing agreement between the Ijaw and Itsekiri communities. Under the deal, the Warri Federal Constituency II seat will rotate between the two groups for two consecutive terms each. The agreement was reached at a high-level meeting in Abuja chaired by Ribadu, following President Tinubu’s directive after a stakeholders’ session at the Presidential Villa. Senior officials, including representatives of the Department of State Services, attended the talks. The group said this intervention has reinforced confidence in the Federal Government’s ability to manage complex ethnic and political tensions through dialogue and urged all stakeholders to prioritise peace, inclusive governance, and national unity.
