Flat Head, Bow Legs, Toe Walking in Babies: What’s Normal and When to Worry

Flat Head, Bow Legs, Toe Walking in Babies: What’s Normal and When to Worry

Many parents panic at signs like a flat spot on the head, bowed legs or a baby walking on tiptoes. These features are often normal stages of early development rather than diagnoses. A flat head often comes from spending time on the back and usually improves with tummy time and independent movement. Bow legs commonly appear as toddlers unfurl from their curled prenatal position and tend to straighten on their own. Early toe walking can simply reflect a child learning balance and coordination. It’s best to assess your baby’s growth and movement as a whole. Look for balanced strength, smooth progress and milestone gains. Seek medical advice if you notice clear asymmetry, worsening features, delayed motor skills or frequent falls that don’t improve.

Some bow legs do seem to straighten out on their own, but I'm not convinced every case needs no medical review first.

I no too sure say tummy time alone go fix flat head; repositioning and gentle lifting fit help more.

Balance tummy time with guided crawling sessions and occasional upright carrying to reduce both flat spots and tiptoe walking risks in early months.
