At its core, people long for intimacy but fear the accountability that comes with commitment. Physical closeness without emotional connection leads to emptiness, confusion and loss of identity. Even when encounters seem meaningless, something is always exchanged. As the Bible reminds us, true intimacy carries emotional and spiritual weight. Seeking affirmation and relief through casual sex only deepens loneliness. Real connection requires trust, honesty, sacrifice and commitment. Until we understand our worth and pursue relationships from a place of wholeness, hookup culture will continue to expand alongside growing feelings of isolation.
