Operation HADIN KAI: Troops Neutralise Insurgents and Arrest Collaborators in Borno and Yobe
Troops of Operation HADIN KAI stepped up clearance missions across the North-East from 15 to 21 May, neutralising suspected terrorists, detaining collaborators and securing fresh surrenders, the defence headquarters said. On 15 May, soldiers cleared the Valle general area, Ashigashiya and Gakara in Gwoza LGA, neutralising two insurgents. The next day, troops working with local hunters seized six cows and arrested four suspected collaborators at Kwayar Kusar Market. Military pressure forced family members and fighters to surrender. On 17 May, a male relative of a terrorist fled the Mandara Mountains and gave himself up along the Gwoza-Limankara route. Two women and seven minors surrendered in Dikwa LGA on 19 May, followed by another woman identified as Alisha Sale. On 20 May, troops at Lawanti in Kukawa LGA arrested a woman smuggling food and hijabs to a notorious commander. That same day, a 20-year-old handed over an AK-47 at the Mairari base. On 21 May, a suspected logistics supplier was detained at Bama checkpoint. In Yobe State, soldiers recovered a rifle and ammunition abandoned by fleeing militants.
