Iheanacho Inspires Celtic’s 3-1 Comeback to Seal 2025/26 Scottish Premiership

Iheanacho Inspires Celtic’s 3-1 Comeback to Seal 2025/26 Scottish Premiership

Super Eagles striker Kelechi Iheanacho came off the bench to help Celtic overturn a 1-0 deficit against Hearts and clinch the Scottish Premiership title. Michael Steinwender had given Hearts the lead in the 38th minute, but Arne Engels levelled from the penalty spot just before halftime. Daizen Maeda and Callum Osmand struck after the break to complete the turnaround. Iheanacho replaced Sebastian Tounekti at halftime and provided fresh energy as Celtic secured their 56th league crown. He ends the season with eight goals in 23 appearances across all competitions. Celtic finished top of the table with 82 points, two clear of Hearts, to lift the 2025/26 title.

Did you expect Iheanacho to turn the game around so decisively after coming on as a substitute for Celtic?

I did not see such a big impact coming, but his energy off the bench was exactly what Celtic needed.

It's odd that Hearts conceded twice in the final stages despite leading and looking solid for most of the match.

Iheanacho's impact was huge, but let's not forget Engels and others stabilized the team long before he appeared.

For Celtic to maintain this form, rotating the squad efficiently and planning late-game substitutions will be key next season.
