Adamawa Emirate Rocked by Claims of Land Grabbing and Power Grab
A fresh dispute has engulfed the Adamawa Emirate after Prince Abdulrahman Aliyu Mustapha filed a petition accusing the Walin Adamawa, Alhaji Aminu Abdulkadir, of illegally seizing over 8,000 hectares of farmland in Yola South LGA. The petitioner says lands in Boronji, Langire, and Gongoshi were cultivated for decades by local farmers and valued at over ₦1.5 billion collectively. The complaint also challenges the Walin’s role in the emirate’s hierarchy, alleging he has overstepped traditional boundaries by claiming kingmaker status. Claims include the forced removal of the Emirate Council Secretary and denial of salaries to palace staff for three years. Despite repeated requests for comment, the Walin Adamawa has remained unresponsive. Authorities have yet to verify the allegations or issue an official statement.
