Army Raids Edo Forests, Arrests 12 Suspected Kidnappers
Troops of the Nigerian Army launched Operation KO SALO in Edo State forests and apprehended 12 suspected kidnappers. The joint effort involved 4 Brigade, 2 Division, the police and the state security corps. Raids in Ugbovbighan, Olelo Forest and Egoro Amede yielded three arrests and the seizure of two motorcycles and two phones. Operations at Ekeke Forest and Camp Sule Rugan Fulani led to two more detentions and the recovery of weapons and a mobile phone. Further clearance in Uwarlor-Oke and Udo Government Reserve Forests resulted in seven additional arrests, a motorcycle and two phones were recovered. In Emu Forest, troops also discovered a locally made long-barrel gun and another motorcycle. Brigadier General Ahmed Balogun commended the soldiers’ professionalism and urged residents to continue providing timely information. All suspects and exhibits have been handed over to police for prosecution.
