Peter Okoye said his children speak French fluently and questioned the practical benefits of speaking Nigerian languages, after being asked whether they could speak Igbo. His comments drew mixed reactions online. Klinton Cod said he has had similar disagreements with his father. He argued that English, French and other widely spoken languages may offer children more opportunities abroad, though he added that he would still teach Igbo if he had the opportunity. He ended his defence of Peter with profanity aimed at critics.
