Canada PR Through AIP: A Lower Proof-of-Funds Option Beyond Express Entry
Express Entry is not the only route to Canadian permanent residence. For Nigerians discouraged by high CRS cut-offs and proof-of-funds requirements, the Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP) may be worth exploring. AIP is an employer-driven pathway for Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland and Labrador. Unlike Express Entry, applicants are not ranked by CRS score. However, they must first secure a genuine, full-time, non-seasonal job offer from an employer officially designated by the province. The settlement-funds requirement can be lower than the Federal Skilled Worker route. The figures cited are CAD 3,815 for one person and CAD 7,090 for a family of four, but applicants should confirm the latest amounts directly with Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada before applying. Applicants must also meet work-experience, language, education, medical, security and admissibility requirements. AIP is not a shortcut or a guaranteed PR route. The hardest part is obtaining a legitimate job offer, and nobody should pay an agent to manufacture one. Fake job offers are immigration fraud and can lead to refusal and a multi-year ban from Canada.
