Passport Scam: NIS Officer Took ₦140,000 for Fake Appointment

Passport Scam: NIS Officer Took ₦140,000 for Fake Appointment — 1 of 4
1 / 4

Late last year I made plans to relocate abroad through a cousin in France. He asked only for an urgent Nigerian passport to secure a job opening. A friend referred me to Ibanga Ita Okon, a Nigeria Immigration Service staff in Abuja. He promised an appointment date within a week for a fee of ₦140,000. I paid ₦100,000 on November 16 and ₦40,000 on November 18. Since then he has ignored my calls. I’ve attached my Moniepoint transfer receipt as proof of payment and shared his contact for anyone with information.

Any examples of people outside Abuja encountering this NIS officer scam?

It's surprising how this officer claimed to guarantee an appointment within a week, yet no official proof or documentation was provided.
