NASA To Release First High-quality Footage From Mars Today By 8pm WAT
> The planet Mars is considered the most similar world to Earth in terms of potential to hold life, but man has only lived on speculation for thousands of years. Now the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) will be offering us a first step towards acquainting with our potential new world via a footage in the next few hours. Last week on February 18, 2021, NASA’s Perseverance Rover, successfully landed on Mars, after completing a long and gruelling journey from earth that spanned seven months (203 days). The aircraft which was NASA’s fifth on the planet was described as its most “complex” and “ambitious” mission ever. It was in reality also the biggest and most tech-packed (manned with seven cameras) aircraft to land on another planet tasked with a straightforward but not-so-simple mission of bringing mars samples back to earth. Perseverance ,which is roughly the size of a car, will remain on Mars’ Jezero Crater for 24 months roaming the planets for any signs of life before its return. However, prior to the start of any mission , the gigantic robot will be tested for "several weeks", to ascertain and confirm its working condition. “Perseverance is the first step in bringing back rock and regolith from Mars. We don’t know what these pristine samples from Mars will tell us. But what they could tell us is monumental – including that life might have once existed beyond Earth,” said the associate administrator for science at NASA, Thomas Zurbuchen.
