Nollywood Mourns Legend: Toyin Tomato’s Heartfelt Tribute to Kola Oyewo
Nollywood star Toyin Adebola, better known as Toyin Tomato, honored her late colleague Kola Oyewo after his passing at 80. On Instagram she wrote: “ERIN WO!!! Uncle K, you came, you saw, and you conquered. Death is inevitable, and we are not permitted to question God.” She praised his many roles—as a dancer, lecturer, father, uncle, and grandfather—and cherished celebrating his 80th birthday on April 18, 2026. She prayed he rests at his Creator’s right hand and said he will be greatly missed. Earlier this year, Oyewo revealed health struggles that forced him to step back from acting. He battled frequent urination and sleepless nights before tests confirmed an enlarged prostate. Fellow actor Kunle Afod also paid tribute, calling him a true legend whose legacy will inspire future generations. Toyin’s post follows her recent efforts to support theatre veterans, including building a new home for veteran actress Mama Mistura Asunmo and organizing her 80th birthday celebration in Ibadan.
