The Skincare Lessons Many Nigerian Fathers Never Passed Down
My father taught me patience, hard work, money management and how to carry myself as a man. But he never taught me how to care for my skin. I do not think he could have, because nobody taught him either. For many men, skincare was treated as something that was not a man's concern. So many of us faced acne, dark spots, ingrown hairs, oily skin and dry skin alone. We relied on trial and error, copied friends, or simply accepted whatever happened to our faces. Our fathers may still be dealing with skin concerns they never knew could be managed. This is not a failure of love. It is a gap in knowledge passed down through generations. We can break that cycle by learning proper skincare and teaching our sons that caring for themselves is part of healthy manhood. Did you only notice this gap when you became an adult?
