Egwuekwe Warns Super Eagles Against Repeating World Cup Qualifying Errors
Former Super Eagles defender Azubuike Egwuekwe has urged Nigeria to treat every 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier seriously after the team missed out on the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Nigeria begin their Group L campaign against Madagascar in Uyo on 25 September before travelling to face Guinea-Bissau four days later. Egwuekwe said the players must avoid underestimating Madagascar, Guinea-Bissau and Tanzania. He argued that Nigeria’s talent must be matched with consistent performances, warning that there are no easy opponents in African football. The 2027 AFCON will be co-hosted by Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania.
