Okobo to Offer Free Maternal and Child Health Services for World Breastfeeding Week

Okobo Local Government Area will hold a free maternal and child health outreach to mark World Breastfeeding Week 2026. The outreach is scheduled for Friday, 7 August 2026, at 8:00 a.m. at the Primary Health Centre in Okopedi. Pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, parents and caregivers are encouraged to attend. Services will include antenatal care, breastfeeding counselling, healthcare for children aged 0–5, ultrasound scans, chest X-rays, tuberculosis screening, birth registration and enrolment in the Akwa Ibom State Health Insurance Scheme. The event supports the World Breastfeeding Week theme: “Breastfeeding for a Sustainable Start in Life: Strengthen What Works.”
