FG to Document Assets Abandoned by Nigerians Evacuated from South Africa
The Federal Government has started listing businesses, vehicles and properties left behind by Nigerians who returned home under its voluntary evacuation scheme from South Africa. Acting High Commissioner Alexander Ajayi told Channels Television that returnees must submit detailed records of movable and immovable assets. This documentation is intended to support future compensation efforts. Diplomatic discussions are already under way with South African authorities, including the Deputy Minister of Finance, to determine how affected citizens can be reimbursed. So far, 335 Nigerians have been evacuated amid ongoing anti-immigration protests in South Africa. The Bureau Journal reports that talks will continue as both governments seek a peaceful resolution.
