Super Eagles striker Tolu Arokodare was an unused substitute as Ajax beat Shelbourne 3-1 in the first leg of their UEFA Conference League third qualifying-round tie. Arokodare had scored in Ajax’s pre-season win over FC Volendam after joining on loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers. However, he is still waiting for his first competitive appearance for the Dutch club. Ajax will face PEC Zwolle in their Eredivisie opener before travelling to Dublin for the second leg against Shelbourne. Arokodare will hope to earn minutes as he looks to rebuild his form and confidence in the Netherlands.
