Ugandan Pastor Allegedly Killed Hours After Christian-Muslim Debate

Pastor Bernard Mulongo, 25, was allegedly killed hours after taking part in an open-air Christian-Muslim debate in Uganda's Butebo District. The New Restoration Church of Christ pastor later joined a local radio programme, where the religious discussion continued. Fellow pastor David Omala said tensions rose after two Muslim women reportedly converted to Christianity during the event. Mulongo and a friend were travelling by motorcycle to their accommodation when they were reportedly stopped by men on other motorcycles in Jami village. His friend escaped and alerted police. Mulongo was later found dead with multiple injuries. Police have opened an investigation. An imam who allegedly confronted Mulongo during the debate is reportedly among those being investigated and is said to have gone into hiding.
