4 Nigerian Startups Secure Spots in Google’s AI-Focused Africa Accelerator

4 Nigerian Startups Secure Spots in Google’s AI-Focused Africa Accelerator

Google for Startups Accelerator Africa is back for its 10th edition. From about 2,600 applications, only 15 startups were selected, and Nigeria claimed four slots. The 12-week program provides equity-free mentorship, technical support, and access to Google’s resources. This year’s cohort has an AI-first focus, with participants building solutions around machine learning and data science. Nigerian ventures such as MasteryHive AI are among those chosen to tackle payments, communication, and financial-system challenges. Alumni gain connections to global networks and hands-on guidance from Google engineers. The high volume of applicants underlines how fast Africa’s tech ecosystem is growing. But the tougher selection shows that strong execution and real impact are now essential for startups to stand out.
