FCT Police Launch Crackdown on Illegal Tints and Hidden Plates

FCT Police Launch Crackdown on Illegal Tints and Hidden Plates

The Federal Capital Territory Command has kicked off a major operation to impound vehicles with unauthorized tinted windows, covered number plates and missing registration details. According to the FCT Commissioner of Police, the move targets cars used in kidnappings, robberies and other “one-chance” crimes. Over 30 vehicles have been seized so far and their owners will face prosecution under FCT Road Transport Regulations 2023. The command says law-abiding motorists with approved tints have nothing to fear. Residents are urged to cooperate with officers and report any suspicious vehicles or activities via the nearest station or emergency lines.

I think this move will encourage drivers to follow regulations more closely and reduce suspicious vehicles on the roads.

It's interesting that they specifically target cars with unauthorized tints and missing plates, but enforcement consistency remains unclear across neighbourhoods.

Ensure your vehicle registration details and number plates are clearly displayed before heading out to avoid fines or possible impoundment by the FCT police.
