Woman Recounts Raising Three Children With Little Support in Her Marriage
A woman has shared her painful experience of feeling reduced to a childbearing role in her former marriage. She said she met her ex-husband in 2016, became pregnant within months, and later discovered that he had previously been married and divorced. According to her, she went through three pregnancies with little emotional or practical support. She recalled attending school at UNN while pregnant, preparing for NYSC during her second pregnancy, and learning she was pregnant for the third time after being locked out following an argument with her husband. She said her ex-husband was largely absent during childbirth and recovery, while his family claimed the right to name the children. She also alleged that her mother-in-law excused her son's infidelity by describing similar experiences in her own marriage. She argued that women should not be expected to endure harmful marriages for appearances, adding that a peaceful single-parent home can be healthier for children than a toxic two-parent household.
