Nigeria-Philippines Trade Soars 700% to $300m in Three Years
Trade between Nigeria and the Philippines has surged by over 700 percent in three years, climbing from US$47 million in 2023 to US$300 million in 2025, according to the Philippine Ambassador to Nigeria. Both governments are working to deepen ties in education, trade and investment. A Nigeria-Philippines Business Council is being set up to organise private-sector partnerships and unlock fresh opportunities for companies in both countries. More than 9,000 Nigerians are currently pursuing higher education in the Philippines. Cultural exchanges are also on the rise, with Afrobeats gaining fans in the Philippines and Filipino soap operas attracting Nigerian viewers. A senior official from Nigeria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs reaffirmed the country’s commitment to expanding collaboration in agriculture, energy, labour mobility and capacity building, praising the Filipino community’s contributions to health, education and technology sectors.
