Ebonyi Assembly Committee Reviews Aeronautics University Projects, Flags Contractor Delays
The Ebonyi State House of Assembly Committee on Education has commended Governor Francis Nwifuru for establishing and funding the Ebonyi State University of Aeronautics and Aerospace Engineering in Ezza. During an oversight visit, committee chairman Nwodo Aloysius Nwodo said the university is strategically positioned to support aviation, engineering and technology training, especially with the nearby Wilberforce Chuba Okadigbo International Airport in Onueke. He said the committee was also reviewing project progress and contractors handling the university’s development. The university’s vice-chancellor, Patrick Akata Nwofe, said the National Universities Commission approved 25 undergraduate programmes for the 2026/2027 academic session. He added that the institution received its operating licence in 2025 and is developing partnerships, while 14 three-storey buildings for faculties, hostels and staff quarters are under construction. The vice-chancellor identified delays by contractors as the institution’s main challenge, despite funds released by the state government.
