Infantino Backs Increased FIFA Funding Ahead of Key Council Vote

FIFA President Gianni Infantino has indicated support for increasing financial distributions to the body’s 211 member associations for the 2027–2030 cycle. UEFA president Aleksander Čeferin and CONCACAF leader Victor Montagliani had urged FIFA to provide an additional $10 million to each association from its reserves, estimated at between $4.4 billion and $6 billion. Infantino said he would support the highest level of funding that can be responsibly approved through FIFA’s governance process. He did not confirm whether the proposed $10 million per association would be adopted. The discussion follows the collapse of a plan to sell part of FIFA’s World Cup commercial rights to private investors. Attention has now shifted to using FIFA’s existing reserves to fund football development.
