CSJET Defends Aminu Junaidu’s Appointment as IST Chairman, Affirms Due Process
The Centre for Social Justice, Equity and Transparency has defended Barrister Aminu Junaidu’s appointment as Chairman of the Investment and Securities Tribunal, saying it followed due process under the Investment and Securities Act. At a press conference in Abuja, CSJET’s Executive Director, Pastor David Yakubu, clarified that President Tinubu approved the appointment within his constitutional powers and that administrative procedures were respected. CSJET challenged claims of illegality, urging the public to consider the full context of governance decisions and warning against selective interpretations of legal frameworks. The group also highlighted Junaidu’s extensive legal background, including his tenure as Zamfara State’s Attorney-General, as relevant to leading the tribunal. Since taking office in October 2025, Junaidu has led efforts to improve efficiency, inclusiveness, and case management at the tribunal. CSJET noted a rise in new filings by legal practitioners and cited recent visits by Ethiopian capital market delegations as evidence of growing confidence in Nigeria’s regulatory institutions.
