Kano Governor Yusuf Appoints 8,588 Teachers in Major Education Boost
Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf presented appointment letters to 8,588 teachers at Sani Abacha Stadium, including 4,900 newly trained primary and secondary educators and 3,688 ABBA Gida-Gida BESDA teachers. He praised the Federal Government’s suspension of the proposed NECO registration fee increase and highlighted his administration’s allocation of 31% of the 2026 budget to education. Kano emerged best-performing in this year’s NECO exams, he noted. Describing education as the cornerstone of sustainable development, Yusuf emphasized moral values alongside academic excellence. He urged the new teachers to serve with professionalism and commitment. Education Minister Maruf Tunji Alausa and Kano’s Education Commissioner and SUBEB Chairman commended the recruitment drive and called on all stakeholders to support ongoing reforms in school infrastructure, teaching quality and learning environments.
