South Africa Launches Digital Travel Authorisation System to Ease Visitor Entry
South African President Cyril Ramaphosa has launched an Electronic Travel Authorisation system designed to make entry procedures faster and more predictable for eligible international travellers. The digital platform allows visitors to apply online before travelling. It is expected to support tourism by increasing arrivals and stimulating businesses in accommodation, restaurants, air travel, tours and related services. Ramaphosa said the system was informed by South Africa’s experience processing visitors during its G20 hosting. The government plans to extend it to more countries and may later adapt it for work, study and other immigration applications.
