Isaiah 14:21: A Reflection on Slavery, Colonialism and Divine Justice
Isaiah 14 is presented here as a reflection on the suffering caused by slavery, colonialism and continuing forms of exploitation affecting African people and the diaspora. I understand the chapter's message about Babylon as a warning against pride, domination and the abuse of power. I believe Africans should seek justice, healing and freedom from systems that continue to harm vulnerable nations. The passage also calls me to personal responsibility. Rather than continuing cycles of wrongdoing, I believe we should live faithfully and work towards a better future for those who come after us. This is a faith-based interpretation intended to encourage reflection, prayer, justice and peace.
