Peter Obi Donates ₦10 Million to Nursing College Skills Lab in Kogi — 1 of 4

Yesterday, I visited Grimard College of Nursing Sciences in Ayingba, Dekina LGA, Kogi State. The school had previously faced a threat to its accreditation because it lacked a bus for students’ clinical placements. My intervention helped provide a bus, allowing the institution to retain its accreditation. During this visit, I donated ₦10 million towards establishing a Skills Laboratory Centre. I also reaffirmed my support for the management, staff and students, and encouraged the students to remain committed to their studies. Nursing offers opportunities to build skills, serve communities and contribute globally. Sustainable national development requires deliberate investment in education and healthcare by government, individuals and organisations.

Clinical placements and practical lab training are both central to nursing education, so this addresses real gaps the college had faced.

A donation is welcome, but long-term accreditation should not depend mainly on occasional interventions from public figures.

The college should clearly prioritise durable lab equipment, maintenance, and a plan for keeping the placement bus operational.
