A Biblical Reflection on Earth’s Desolation at Christ’s Return
Jeremiah 4:23–25 describes a desolate earth without light, people or birds. This devotional reflection links the passage with Isaiah 24 and the Christian belief that Christ’s return will bring judgment upon sin and renewal for God’s people. It presents the earth as emptied after Christ gathers the redeemed, with the devastation of cities, mountains and seas illustrating the consequences of rebellion against God. It also reflects on the Day of Atonement and the belief that Satan will ultimately bear responsibility for the evil he has encouraged. May we accept God’s salvation, seek victory over sin and live in readiness for Christ’s return. Share your prayer requests and testimonies with fellow believers. Source: Maranatha, page 306.
