WAFCON 2026: Ghana Beat Cape Verde 2-0 in Group D Opener
Ghana’s Black Queens opened their WAFCON 2026 Group D campaign with a 2-0 win over tournament debutants Cape Verde. Doris Boaduwaa gave Ghana an early lead in the sixth minute after a Portia Boakye assist. Cape Verde defender Eleia Vieira scored an own goal in the 54th minute to seal the result. Cape Verde’s historic first match at the continental finals ended with 10 players after Klaydiana Borges was sent off in stoppage time. Ghana now build on a strong start as they seek to improve on their bronze-medal finish at the previous edition.
