Have You Ever Lost Fluency in Your Native Language?
Have you ever spoken your native language fluently, then gradually found it difficult to speak? I experienced this after I began living with my uncles, where we mostly spoke Pidgin English. Over time, I unconsciously lost much of my fluency in my native language. When I later returned to my village and spent time there, my fluency started coming back. Parents should speak native languages with their children too, so they can preserve their language and culture.
