Why Academic INEC Chairs Keep Failing Nigeria’s Elections

Why Academic INEC Chairs Keep Failing Nigeria’s Elections

Since 1999, every INEC chairman has come from academia. Each held top degrees and was seen as an elite custodian of knowledge. Yet credible elections remain elusive. INEC should mandate specialized training workshops for incoming chairs and create clear protocols to navigate union negotiations without derailing election timelines.
