Senator Adams Oshiomhole says the cash crisis caused by the 2023 naira redesign contributed to Peter Obi’s victory over Bola Tinubu in Lagos during the presidential election. Speaking in a television interview, Oshiomhole said widespread difficulty accessing cash through banks, ATMs and POS agents angered many voters. He argued that the situation made the ruling APC unpopular in Lagos at the time. He claimed the frustration over cash withdrawals, fuel queues and other economic pressures pushed voters to reject the APC candidate in the state.
