U.S. Honours Late Nigerian Imam Who Sheltered Over 260 Christians
The U.S. Mission in Nigeria has remembered the late Imam Abubakar Abdullahi for his courage and commitment to peace. In June 2018, he sheltered more than 260 Christians fleeing violence in Nghar village, Plateau State, despite the personal danger involved. His action later earned him the U.S. State Department’s International Religious Freedom Award in 2019. His legacy shows the humanity and compassion that can unite people across religious differences, even in difficult times.
