Tinubu Revises Itinerary: Heads to Plateau State Before Ogun and Lagos

President Bola Tinubu has postponed his April 2 visit to Ogun State. He will first travel to Jos in Plateau State to console victims of recent attacks. After Plateau, the President will spend Good Friday in Lagos. On April 4, he will go to Ogun State to commission the Gateway International Cargo Airport, unveil new customs facilities and inaugurate two commercial aircraft. Back in Lagos, he will open several state projects including the Ojota/Opebi Link Bridge and a new GIS building. He will then visit Bayelsa on April 10 to commission completed projects. The revised schedule was announced by the President’s Special Adviser on Information & Strategy.

True, it does look like a calculated move to calm local tensions before Ogun. Hard to ignore the politics behind that timing.

It seems unusual to skip a planned Ogun stop for a condolence visit in Jos right before commissioning projects.

Local leaders should use his visit to push for more security resources and real support for affected communities.
